Old Westbury Take Down Women’s Volleyball

BOX SCORE
JAMAICA, NY— Coaching against a team she played for just a year ago, York College head coach Ashley Greene was unable to lead the Cardinals' women's volleyball team to a victory over her alma mater, SUNY Old Westbury.  The Panthers defeated York by a score of 3-0 (25-14, 25-13, 25-19) on Wednesday night.

Hitting errors proved to be the problem for York as they finished the day with a negative percentage.  The Cardinals managed just 14 kills on the evening, while making 22 attack errors.  Old Westbury was more efficient, slamming 27 kills with a modest hitting percentage of .065.  They also served up 11 aces to just three for York.

Leading the way for the Panthers was Jennifer Jean, who registered a match-high seven kills to go along with seven digs.  Jocelyn Small had six kills and hit .250 and Kimberly Catania had a team-high 15 digs.

The Cardinals were led by Pamela Yap, who recorded a match-high 19 digs and five aces.  Allison Li finished with eight digs and Evelyn Florentino had four aces.

York falls to 3-13, while Old Westbury improves to 6-10.  The Cardinals will host SUNY Maritime on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
