Kennisha Wills Scores First Career Goal as Women’s Soccer Falls to Maritime College

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – York College lost its third match of the season this Wednesday night, falling to Maritime College, 9-1.

Marisa Athan opened up the scoring within the first minute of the contest scoring off of her own rebound; she led the Privateers with three goals. Julianna Avitto would score five minutes later off of an assist from Gayle Woods, to make it 2-0 early. Woods would finish the game with two goals and three assists. Kathleen Burns of the Privateers also put in two goals and Jamie Rocco would chip in a goal as well.  The Privateers improved to 1-4 with the win.

York freshman Kennisha Wills would score in the 51st minute after beating Privateers keeper, Kristen Hoar, on a breakaway to give the Cardinals their only goal of the match.  Verenice Gomez set up Wills with the goal on a through ball. 

Now sitting at 0-3, York will be looking for its first win against Lehman College this coming Wednesday, September 17. The match will kickoff at 7 p.m. at the Aviator Field.
